Olive Life™'s Olive Leaf Extract products have been verified by the Non-GMO Project, being compliant with the Non-GMO Project Standard, which includes stringent provisions for testing, traceability, and segregation.
The capsules are made from Hypromellose. This is a non-animal derived alternative to traditional gelatin capsules. They are produced from a cellulose material derived from softwood trees, mainly pine and spruce trees that are grown and harvested in the southeastern United States. Hence, they are commonly referred to as vegetable capsules.
We are not aware of any safety concerns from taking Olive Leaf Extract with other vitamins and supplements. However, some vitamins and supplements can have strong effects on your body, particularly if taken in high doses, and some may interact with medicines. We recommend you talk to your Healthcare professional if you have any concerns.

Oleuropein is a natural polyphenolic plant compound found in the oil, fruit and leaves of the olive tree and has a bitter, peppery taste that is characteristic of high quality extra virgin olive oil. Oleuropein and other olive polyphenols protect the olive tree against environmental, microbial and insect damage. Oleuropein is the most abundant olive polyphenol found in Olive Life™ Olive Leaf Extract. Scientific research shows that Oleuropein has many health promoting properties including potent antioxidant activity and protection against cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. Its strong antioxidant activity also helps to support the immune system and general wellbeing.

There is no recommended time of day to take Olive Leaf Extract, however we do recommend taking with food. Our favorite way to have our Olive Leaf Extract Liquid is with a glass of water just before breakfast and dinner.

Little is known about the safety of regularly taking olive leaf extract. But there's some concern it may trigger mild side effects like stomach pain and headache.

Olive Life's™ Olive Leaf is extracted using water, then the vegetable glycerol (pharmaceutical grade) is added. This is required to help offset the bitterness of the olive leaves and to keep the product stable. By stabilising the beneficial polyphenols (including oleuropein) and maintaining them at optimal levels over the shelf life of the product, will ensure that our customers have a high strength, high-quality Olive Leaf Extract product.

Olive Leaf Extract does not contain any added sugar. It contains vegetable glycerol as the bulking agent. Even though glycerine (glycerol) is sweet, it is not a sugar and it does not behave as a sugar in the body. Olive Leaf Extract does, however, contain naturally occurring sugars. These are present in small amounts, with nutritional analysis showing there is 0.1g of fructose in 100g of Olive Leaf Extract.

Source of Olive Leaf
Olive trees are naturally resistant to most insects and disease. Those same antioxidants that are useful to us humans, also help to protect the olive tree so that they are able to live for a long time. In Australia, we have one native insect that can cause damage to olive trees – the olive lace bug. We control this pest using an organic pesticide made from pyrethrum (sourced from the daisy plant). We also use beneficial bugs to combat any fungal diseases when the occasion arises. However, we do not have organic status.
In regard to fertilizers, we use many different types of natural products such as seaweed and manure. We do need to use commonly used herbicides to control weeds, these are not directly sprayed onto the trees. We test regularly for residues and the results all show that they are well under specified limits.

Science of Olive Leaf
Natural health products are a complex mixture of compounds that work together to produce benefits.
Our Olive Leaf Extract contains at least 12 naturally occurring plant polyphenols, including Oleuropein.
In our Olive Life™ Olive Leaf Cardio Health Capsules, there is 68mg of oleuropein per capsule, which equates to approximately 22.1%. Looking only at oleuropein content by itself in a percentage form, can be misleading. It is possible to artificially boost oleuropein, or use dried powdered leaf to manufacture an extract that does not provide the same balance of natural compounds.
We suggest that when looking at oleuropein, it is best to look at the amount of oleuropein per dose in milligrams, not in percentage form.

Sustainability
Our Olive Life™ Olive Leaf jars and bottles are all made from rPET, rPET is recycled PET (or Polyethylene terephthalate) plastic. Here at Olive Life it is important to us that we are not introducing any new plastic into the world, so we have chosen to make all of our products from rPET a PET produced from 100% recycled PET.

Here on our Olive Farms it is important for us to work with nature, not against it, and we take this philosophy through all of our fresh leaf farming practices.
Once the fresh leaf has been used for the production of olive leaf extract, it is composted and spread back under the trees as mulch. We do not produce any waste through our factory or farm that needs to be disposed of in landfill. Any excess fresh leaf is also trimmed off the trees and mulched and spread back under the trees aiding in tree growth, reducing weed growth and irrigation requirements. Mulch also improves soil quality removing the need to rely on synthetic fertilisers’ for tree growth.
When we need to plant additional trees, plant material is removed from our ‘mother’ trees and propagated on site in our hot houses. Propagated material is planted into trays, rather than traditional tube stock pots, reducing plastic waste & encouraging stronger root growth. Propagating trees from our own material grows stronger trees that have already acclimated to our environment & increases strike rate.
We have an integrated pest management program where we release “good’ bugs to hunt down & eat the ‘bad’ bugs that we don’t want to see on our trees, naturally improving the ecosystem around our trees and allowing the native insect populations to thrive. If spot spraying is needed we use a natural pyrethrum spray made from chrysanthemum daisies. Pyrethrum leaves no residue on the leaves and is classed as organic.
Waste Water from the factory is recycled and reused back on the trees for irrigation.
We encourage native wildlife (koala’s, kangaroos, echidna’s, birds, insects, spiders) through our wildlife corridors so they have safe and protected access to land bordering our groves. We maintain our wildlife corridors to remove invasive weeds and pest trees so native species can thrive. The natural water course for flood water through our property is maintained and we have purpose built fish ladders in to our water storage dams to give native Gudgeon & other fish species access to the dams for breeding during flood events.
Water is an extremely precious resource for us in Australia, with an average yearly rainfall of only 776mm over our groves. We have a robust draught management plan for water conservation; trees are only watered when they need watering, waste water from the factory is recycled and rain water is harvested and stored in dams or tanks. When needed tree irrigation is carried out during the night to prevent evaporation.
Our leaf is harvested from our own trees, we have full control over what is used in our groves & on our trees. We have over 800,000 trees for the production of our Olive Life™ olive leaf extract, which gives us access to enough fresh leaf that we don’t need to buy dried leaf in from outside suppliers/ sources. We only use fresh-picked™ olive leaf to protect the quality of the Oleuropein, producing the highest quality antioxidant to support your Cardio Health.
As part of our attention to detail on the grove, we have a full traceability system which allows us to trace each bottle of Olive Life™ back to the row and block that the fresh leaf came from that went into that bottle.
